UPSC exams are one of the most prominent exams in the country, which require candidates to go through three levels. All these levels test various aspects of the candidate. Although this exam is regarded as a vital exam, some myths surround this exam, which may affect candidates' confidence. Below mentioned are some of these myths.

Aspirants are expected to know each and everything:

As this exam consists of a syllabus that encompasses various subjects, many people believe aspirants require knowing everything in the universe, which is not valid. UPSC exams have a specific syllabus which is followed by the aspirants to achieve success. Specific topics required aspirants to explore their topic, but it does not mean that they must know everything.

Coaching is Compulsory:

Many people believe that to succeed in the UPSC exams coaching is essential, which is not valid. Yes, many IAS classes in Delhi have many success stories, but also, there are plenty of students who have qualified to study all by themselves. It is difficult for many to settle in a new place for coaching and believe it's better to learn by them and appear for this prestigious exam.

One should study long Hours:

As the syllabus is vast, many believe that UPSC aspirants require long hours of study to succeed. This is not valid as these days studying smarter is more crucial than studying long hours. One has to plan his preparations, which will allow spending ample time on other things. Studying long hours can make you reach your saturation level and gradually giving up your studies, which is not a good sign.

Attempt maximum Questions during the Prelims:

Many believe that attempting maximum questions during the prelims will help to score maximum marks, which is not valid. If you do not know the answer, it is advised you not to attempt the question as the exam has negative markings. UPSC classes in Delhi advise their students to attempt only those questions they are aware of to avoid any negative markings. Attempting questions not aware of will land you with negative marking and decrease your overall score. This myth is not valid and should not be followed by aspirants.
